IRINA SERGIYENKO has made a report at the eSPORTconf Ukraine 2017

On February 22 Kiev hosted a Conference on e-sports – eSPORTconf Ukraine 2017 for the first time. The event was devoted to consideration of the situation regarding the integration of the Ukrainian business into the international market of e-sports, based on traditional and innovative solutions. Irina Sergiyenko, President of the Ukrainian Gaming Industry Association (UGIA), made a report at the conference.

Topic of the report of the UGIA Head "Whether e-sports need regulation in Ukraine" sparked the interest of e-sports industry representatives. Irina Sergiyenko pointed out that since June 2016 e-sports, referred to as "electronic sports", have been officially recognized as a kind of sport in the Russian Federation. In Ukraine, no legislative initiatives have been developed in relation to e-sports.

"Legislation of Ukraine suggests the possibility of recognition of e-sports as a kind of sport in Ukraine. However, such a decision requires consolidation of efforts of the e-sports world representatives, as well as compliance with a number of legislative requirements on systemic and stable basis. If the e-sports world of Ukraine is ready to develop in this direction, the Ukrainian Gaming Industry Association stands ready to provide necessary assistance and support to such initiatives", said Irina Sergiyenko.
